We are a scanlation group (READ: people who translates manga[japanese comics]) who just started 2 weeks ago. So far, we are just 2 in a group, me and my translator friend who's half-japanese. Things got interesting here and there, then start off a project. My friend translate a manga, then after its been proofread, i'll be the one to scanlate it, that is, the final job of cleaning and typesetting.
But then, we decided that we want additional people in our little home. A permanent people, say like a proofreader - who'd just stand by and proofread for us, than looking for one at the net. Honest, she was tired asking people to proofread her work.
Its like this - we will not put pressure on my team. We believe that something so enjoyable in the first place like reading manga shouldn't be eating people's lives. So, we do these things in our sweet time, no deadlines, no fast release.
Its just that, if you have a spare time to waste on translating, cleaning or proofreading a manga, then you're IN.
By the way - our demographics (Genre) are SHOUJO AND SHOUNEN.
Projects: We will talk about this, since we are just a starting group. Honestly, we have a few on going like KImi no Sei, Anne-chan Tarou, Kare no Ondo, Telepathy Pierce, God Seeker etcc... The translator's choice of manga to translate would also be great.
Here's what we need~
1. Japanese – English Translators
Good manga starts with a story. Likewise, good scanlation starts from translation.
I am looking for someone whose Japanese is his/her first language or one who is learning Japanese and confident to give it a try. Since most of the projects are based on the everyday-conversations, I don’t think it will be really hard to translate. He/she must also have a strong foundation in English, although one is not required to be an English native speaker.
Need - 1
2. Proofreader -
After translating, proofreading comes next.
A proofreader is the one who checks the grammar, spelling, and the likes on the translations. He/she must be one whose English is a primary language, or someone who is confident enough that her english is good. Proofreaders are important too, because without them, a translation wouldn't move on and be used.
Need - 1
3. Cleaners -
Cleaners are good in using a photoshop. Because of them, a manga can be considered High Quality.
Cleaners are responsible for the graphic part of the scanlation group. When a page is scanned, mostly, depends on the RAW - either it will be colored or B&W. The cleaner's job, is turn the RAW into monochrome, the bg so white and the lines/drawings black and crisp. The speech balloons had been erased and blank as well as 'erased' unnecessary 'dust' or 'dirt' on pages. Cleaners do the toughest jobs. For this, one should be knowledgeable on Photoshop tweaking.
4. Typesetters -
Typesetters are the 'encoders' of the group.
Also, this one is like the cleaners. Knows how to use photoshop. They are the ones responsible for putting the words in the speech balloons. Actually - cleaning and typsetting can be done both at the same time.
For now - these are the positions we need.
